Tibet Relief Fund of the UK is providing financial support to young Tibetan entrepreneurs and enterprises, including:

 

Kalden Dorjee

Business name: Auka Designs

Kalden has attained a B.Com, Diploma in Fashion Technology and Diploma in Export Management from Delhi University. He is a fashion designer / exporter who is looking to set up his own fashion / accessory design business. Suitable premises are being sought, and machinery etc being purchased.

 

Norsang Lateng

Business name: Lateng Online

Norsang has a Diploma in network centred computing and in June 2001 set up the very popular Tibetan news website www.phayul.com. He has researched market needs and is now preparing to set up a web solutions business that will give reliable and affordable services to both Tibetans and others looking to set up websites etc.

 

 

Tibetan World magazine

Managing directors: Tenzin Wangchuk & Tenzin Nyima

Tibetan World magazine was set up in July 2004 by a group of young Tibetans who recognised the need for a lively and topical magazine aimed at Tibetan youth worldwide. The stated objectives are:

to bring about a more informed Tibetan citizenry;

  • to provide a platform for Tibetan artistes, writers, thinkers and common people to engage in a free and fair exchange and airing of views, opinions and information;

  • to generate self-employment and promote a spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the Tibetan youth and society;

  • This enterprise will employ four full-time and around seven part-time staff, all young Tibetans.
