Dalai Lama re-affirms commitment to "Middle Way" approach PDF Print E-mail
[23 February 2010]  Following his meeting with President Obama on 17 February, the Dalai Lama appeared on CNN's Larry King show.

During an in-depth interview, the Dalai Lama again reiterated he is not seeking independence saying "we do not want separation from China, because the Tibet, landlocked country; materially is backward. Every Tibetan wants a modernized Tibet ... so, actually, the Tibetan - our middle approach is the best way to bring unity and stability. So if you use common sense, then our approach is the best interests for Peoples Republic of China."

However, he also went on to describe the present policy in Tibet as "damaging for Tibetans' religious freedom and also culture, heritage and environment."
