Tibet Uprising Anniversary 2012 |

The 53rd Anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising will be commemorated in the UK with a series of events. On Wednesday 7 March there will be a Lobby of Parliament, where Tibetans and supporters will be directly lobbying their MPs and calling for action on Tibet. The Lobby will be preceded by a wreath-laying ceremony outside Westminster Abbey. On the day of the anniversary itself, Saturday 10 March, the annual Tibet Freedom March will take place through central London, finishing with a rally outside the Chinese Embassy.

TIBET LOBBY: WEDNESDAY 7 MARCH
The annual Tibet Lobby will take place on Wednesday 7 March. Tibet supporters are encouraged to come to Parliament to directly lobby their MPs about Tibet and to ask them to support initiatives to help the Tibetan people in their struggle for freedom and justice. If you cannot make it to Westminster, you can still take part by lobbying your MP locally. Click here for further details.

WREATH-LAYING CEREMONY: WEDNESDAY 7 MARCH
The annual wreath-laying ceremony, to mark the anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising and remember the victims of China’s occupation of Tibet, will be held at the Memorial to Innocent Victims of Torture in front of Westminster Abbey. The wreath-laying will be accompanied by a short multi-faith service (approximately 15-20 minutes). All welcome.

TIBET FREEDOM MARCH - LONDON: SATURDAY 10 MARCH
To commemorate the 53rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising, the annual Tibet Freedom March will take place in central London on Saturday 10 March. The march starts opposite Downing Street, Westminster and finishes outside the Chinese Embassy on Portland Place. At the end of the march there will be a rally with speakers from the Tibet movement.
Time: 10am-1.30pm. Gather from 10am, march starts at 11am. Rally starts at approx. 12.45pm
Location: starts at Richmond Terrace (opposite Downing Street), London SW1. Finishes outside Chinese Embassy, 49-51 Portland Place, London W1B 1JL. Map

TIBET PEACE WALK - EDINBURGH: SATURDAY 10 MARCH
Edinburgh University Tibet Sociey are organising a march through central Edinburgh to mark the 53rd anniversary of the Tibetan National Uprising. The march will culminate at the Chinese consulate at Murrayfield, where flowers will be laid at the Consulate's door, alongside pictures of Tibetans that have been killed or self-immolated due to the oppression of China's occupation.
Time: Gather at 1.30pm at The Mound next to National Gallery of Scotland. Walk starts at 2pm.
