Friday 12 March: 51st Anniversary of the National Tibetan Women’s Uprising Day
The UK Tibetan Women’s Association will be commemorating the 51st Anniversary of the National Tibetan Women’s Uprising Day of 12th March 1959, when many thousands lost their lives.Dedication Prayers will be held in memory of these brave Tibetan Women who sacrificed their lives for the independence of Tibet and those women who are still suffering in prisons under the Chinese occupation of Tibet. There will also be a talk and discussion with Dechen Pemba, editor of the website High Peaks Pure Earth, on which Tibetan blogs written in Tibetan and Chinese are translated into English. Saturday 10 April: A reflection on ancient Buddhist culture of Ladakh
The Bath and District Tibet Support Group is organising a talk by Paul Kirby and Caroline McCookwie, who will share memories and photographs of their recent visit to Ladakh in 2009. They travelled with a Tibetan lama who was returning to Ladakh for the first time in 45 years. For further details click here
