The Tashi Lhunpo Monks

Tashi Lhunpo MonksThe Tashi Lhunpo Monastery is one of the most important monasteries in Tibet. It is located in Shigatse (now part of China's Tibet Autonomous Region) and is the traditional seat of the Panchen Lama. Following the Tibetan national uprising in 1959, many of the Tashi Lhunpo monks fled into exile. They re-established the monastery in Bylakuppe, south India. The exile monastery currently houses approximately 400 monks.

Tashi Lhunpo MonksThe Tashi Lhunpo monks tour the world to promote Tibetan culture and Buddhist traditions. They are famed for their masked dance performances, sacred chanting and construction of sand mandalas. Last year, the monks performed at the Glastonbury and WOMAD festivals. In previous years they have performed at The Barbican, the Southbank Centre and at many prestigious venues and festivals across the UK, Europe and the USA.

The Tashi Lhunpo monks are currently touring in the UK and Europe on "The Power of Compassion Tour".
