For further details and pdfs of our campaign info sheets click here now until Sun 26 September: Tashi Lhunpo monks tour of the UK The Tibetan monks from Tashi Lhunpo Monastery present performances of masked dance, sacred Tibetan chant and ritual Buddhist music. UK tour dates include The Dalai Lama's 75th birthday: Tibet Festival in the Park, the Edinburgh Festival, Llangollen International Eisteddfod and The Royal Opera House in London. Other venues include Cheltenham, The Eden Project, Brixham, Salisbury, Kendal, Reading, Hexham, Manchester and Halifax. The tour programme also features particapatory workshops and exhibitions of the Tantric tradition of meditational sand mandalas. For full details visit: www.tashi-lhunpo.org.uk Tuesday 12 October: Arjia Rinpoche talk & book signing, London Tibet Society will be hosting a public talk and book signing with Arjia Rinpoche, one of the most senior Tibetan lamas to have escaped into exile. Arjia Rinpoche was the abbot of Kumbum Monastery, one of the six main monasteries in Tibet, and was expected to become the tutor to the Panchen Lama. However, after Gedhun Chokyi Nyima was abducted by the Chinese authorities, Rinpoche felt he could not be disloyal to the Dalai Lama, so he escaped in 1998. He now lives in the USA where he has set up centres dedicated to the preservation of Buddhist teachings, art and culture. He has written an account of his experiences in Tibet, "Surviving the Dragon", which will be on sale at the event. Venue (central London), time & tickets to be confirmed. Thursday 21 October: Lhamo Tso talk and film screening, London Lhamo Tso, wife of Tibetan political prisoner Dhondup Wangchen, will be giving a public talk, in conjunction with Tibet Society, about her experiences and her campaign to have her husband released. Lhamo Tso's visit to the UK will also include meetings with Foreign Office officials and MPs. The UK visit is part of a European tour organised by International Tibet Support Network.
